Becoming a trustee

I’m excited to share that I've become a trustee at Kids in Museums and honoured to join such a brilliant charity I have long admired.

I originally came across Kids in Museums when I was researching speakers to invite to the Culture Matters Conference I organised back in 2012, when I was communications manager at Norwich HEART. It was a one-off international cultural heritage conference around capturing the social and economic value of cultural heritage, with perspectives and projects from across Europe. We invited Dea Birkett, then Director of Kids in Museums, to speak at the conference as part of a seminar on audience development and her presentation was entitled, “Everybody welcome? Why children, teenagers and families are important visitors, and how to draw them in.” Since then, I have continuously referred to Kids in Museums’ resources to improve my own marketing and audience development practice, as well as referencing them in presentations and training webinars I give to the sector, including links in handouts. For example, the Flexible family ticket guidelines and watch report, the Kids in Museums Manifesto, and resources on engaging children, young people and families with LGBTQ+ heritage, and supporting children and young people to understand and respond to the climate and ecological emergency.

I look forward to getting to know and supporting the wonderful team and other trustees.
