Inspiring family-friendly museums

Brilliant to be celebrating and recognising the phenomenal family-friendly work that museums are doing across the country at the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Award 2023 yesterday.

A massive congratulations to the overall winner Craven Museum, all the category winners and shortlisted museums. It was so inspiring to listen to examples of feedback from the family judges about what made a difference for them. Facilities such as buggy parking and children-sized chairs, café pricing and range of food, pocket money items in shops, children’s artwork being displayed, free nappies and period products available, activities and trails, contemporary issues covered and reflected in exhibitions and programming, and the way staff and volunteers made all families feel so welcome and comfortable are just a few examples highlighted.

A huge thanks and well done to the Kids in Museums team for all your hard work on the awards, for the National Maritime Museum for hosting and Arts Council England and Benugo for supporting.
